An evening to remember....

Wow - what a great weekend we had this weekend.  We licensed Amy Hines as our new associate and installed Meridith Sanders and Peter Pizana as leaders in the Youth Group.  Our church family is growing in Love, size, and culture.  What strikes me most though is that we are growing in our calling to love a city.  In the end that is really what matters the most.  Frankly, it's all that matters.

I like to think that we are only growing in all these other areas because we have first understood why we are here as a Church body - to serve, to wash the feet of the broken, to be healed, to be healers, to be Jesus followers and people lovers.

Out of all the things that excite me most about our Church family - this concept, of loving people where they are at, is the one that really fills me with the most anticipation.  It seems something else is coming out of this realization.  It is the knowledge that other churches in the area truly feel the same way.  For such a long time we, as a Christian body, have lived within our own walls.  I believe that time is coming to an end rapidly.

I believe that our destiny as the body of Christ is to ultimately realize the power of unity.....and to point that unity in the direction of the broken and hurting in our cities....in Jesus name!

Come and See What's New

You really should think about coming out to meet with us and see what God is up to.  There is a real sense of anticipation in the air for what this summer will hold.  We are so excited about what we are seeing in our families and in our community.  I can't begin to describe the team work and vision that is taking root.  Lately we have been working cooperatively with some of the other local churches in the area, Vineyard as well as other denominations and I think it's wonderful.  We have teamed up with a Downtown based church "Icon" in our monthly food bank outreach as well as joining in vision with our partner and host church "The Grove".

This Mother's day weekend is another opportunity to jump in and come along.  We will be working along side of Dwell, a local Vineyard church based in La Mesa.  Saturday, the 12th, we will be working on building a community garden for a local family rehabilitation center in the La Mesa / Lemon Grove area.  What better way to celebrate Mother's day than lending a hand to an organization that works at keeping families togethar.

Love and Grace

Chris
